For nap today, Steve attempted to give DJ and opportunity to sleep in the car bed again. I'm a little fuzzy on all of the details as I was asleep myself due to the little dog getting me up at 5:30AM. Steve went into his room twice in an attempt to get him to settle down, but both attempts failed. One time, DJ had piled his blankets and a bunch of books onto the chair in an attempt to get to the shelves with the box of wipes. The next time, DJ was playing with the closet doors. Thus, back into the crib he went. It seems that he went to sleep but half an hour later, he woke up wailing. I went in, sat with him in the rocker for a minute or two, and he's since gone back to sleep.
However, this is starting to prove that he just doesn't have the discipline to stay in the bed without one of us staying in there with him. It's almost as if he needs to be "removed" from the opportunity to do things via the containment of the crib to go to sleep. He's just too curious about things he can do in his room, no matter how much we baby-proof it. I'm concerned about starting the habit of having to stay in there until he falls asleep, and neither of us don't really want any parts of it. Last night, we thought that maybe his bedtime is too early so that if we kept him up later, he'd be tired enough and just go to sleep. That didn't work. It just made it so that he didn't go to sleep until after 9. Today we asked him if he was ready for nap, said yes, but that didn't get us anywhere either. So I don't know what we're going to do...
