When DJ was born, Steve rearranged the living room to accommodate the glider chair, the glider chair's ottoman, and the bassinet.
When DJ outgrew the bassinet and moved into his crib full time, the living room was rearranged again. The glider chair and its ottoman moved into DJ's room, the bassinet was repacked, and the pack-n-play moved into the living room in place of the bassinet.
DJ is now crawling, pulling up, and cruising and therefore very interested in being mobile. The pack-n-play is too confining for Mr. Independent who almost immediately protests being put in it during play time. This also means lots of parental supervision 100% of the time. This, as you can imagine, is very draining.
So the living room was rearranged again today to accommodate a play yard, as it were. It's basically a safe-for-him fenced in area where he can play, crawl, and pull up without us having to watch him like a hawk every waking moment. It stretches the length of the bay window in the living room. It forced us to put away the pack-in-play, and now we have to figure out what to do with the rest of the furniture that no longer fits in the area.
Oh the things we do for our child! And to think that this is one of the smallest of the sacrifices we will make for him!
