DJ went to his first basketball game tonight. We went in support of Grace's dad, who is the head coach of the Varsity as well as the Athletic Director for Cardinal Gibbons.
Cardinal Gibbons was going to play Loyola High at Loyola, and Miss Eleanor said that she and Mr. Sonny would be attending. So I decided to take DJ to give him his first experience of a live game, even though it was going to be past his bedtime.
I carried DJ in the Snugli, and he was enraptured with the game the entire first half. He was happy to see Mr. Sonny, Miss Eleanor, his girlfriend Grace, and her mom, Nadia, but he didn't pay them too much attention at first. The game was fast paced and very exciting!
DJ was tired by the time it was ending, but we stuck it out to see Gibbons overcome a deficit to win.
DJ also met Mr. and Mrs. Brune, my high school classmate Kieran's parents. Mr. Brune is a legend at Loyola, and it's really cool that he still comes to the games though he's long since retired. So he met them, and I sent my regards to Kieran.
